We had a deeply unpleasant experience at Waqf Outhman bin Affan Hotel in Madinah. Shortly after check-in, we discovered blood stains on the bed sheets, which is completely unacceptable and raises serious hygiene and health concerns. After repeatedly calling the staff, the sheets were eventually changed, but no proper explanation or sincere apology was offered. When I raised the issue at the reception, the response was dismissive and uninterested. Escalating the matter to management made no difference. Unfortunately, the way the situation was handled left us feeling that, as Indian guests, our concerns were not given the same importance or respect as those of other guests, which added to the distress of an already unacceptable hygiene issue. What made the experience even more upsetting was that housekeeping attempted to shift the blame onto us, rather than acknowledging their failure. Even after informing the staff that we would be posting this experience online, there was no change in attitude or urgency, which suggested a troubling level of indifference to guest feedback. To make matters worse, the only form of “compensation” offered was a few bottles of water, which felt inappropriate and insulting given the seriousness of the situation. In a city like Madinah, where hospitality, cleanliness, and respect for guests—especially pilgrims—should be upheld at the highest standards, this experience was extremely disappointing. Clean bed sheets are the most basic expectation of any hotel, and failing at this level raises serious concerns about overall hygiene and management practices. We had a very bad experience at this property, especially since we were traveling with toddlers. When we were given our room, the bed was full of dirty hair. It was extremely unhygienic and clearly showed that the room had not been cleaned properly. We immediately complained to the staff, but nothing was done for four hours. Traveling with small children, waiting that long in a dirty room was extremely stressful and unacceptable. What made the situation even worse was the poor complaint-handling process. If you complain to one staff member, that person changes after a few hours, and then you have to go through the entire process of explaining the issue again to someone new. There was no proper handover, no follow-up, and no sense of responsibility. Additionally, there were no blankets provided in the toilet/bathroom, and one of the rooms had a toilet that was not working at all, which caused major inconvenience. Overall, the rooms looked dirty, poorly maintained, and completely unsuitable for families, especially those with toddlers. The lack of cleanliness, slow response, broken facilities, and disorganized staff made this stay very unpleasant. We would not recommend this place to anyone, particularly families with young children. Read less

The most disorganised hotel I have ever been to. At check in I could hear other guests complain about issues they were having with their check in/check out date. This continued to be a theme in the following days. We were assigned a room but when we got there we found that the room was already occupied. With 3 kids in tow this was not a slight inconvenience. This took 30 minutes if not longer to fix. The rooms were falling apart. Curtains hanging off the rail. The door looked as if it had been attacked by a wild animal. Carpets that felt dirty and unclean. No hand towels on the railing. The toilet door stiff to the extent we had to use our whole body strength to open it. The beds too high for our children to climb on to. The pillows so high and hard we all left with neck cramps. The day after we checked in we were told we were expected to check out. This seemed to be an ongoing theme. Nearly every day we were told to check out despite clarifying the day before our check out date. The best part of the stay was the efforts of the hard working Bangladeshi staff who tried the best to accommodate us. The location wasn’t too bad closer to the women’s entrance of Masjid Nabawi but so were lots of rather hotels. Stay at one of them and save yourself a headache. Read less

I stayed at this hotel for 4 days December during Umrah, and unfortunately, it was a truly disappointing experience, despite the hotel having a lot of potential and it was too late to cancel I did see the negative reviews and didn’t believe it at first. The building itself is dated, but the room sizes are large and the location is good—only about a 5-minute walk from Gate 326 of the Prophet’s Mosque. However, these positives were outweighed by poor housekeeping and management. On the first day of arrival, we were given two adjoining rooms. In both rooms, the fridge was broken, the safe did not work, and the TV was not functioning. After repeated complaints, they eventually fixed one fridge and the safe, and later the TV. This should not happen at check-in. Cleanliness was a major issue. The floors were dirty, the carpets were not clean, and it honestly seemed like vacuuming or proper cleaning was not practiced at all. I never saw any housekeeping equipment such as a vacuum. Towels and toilet paper were not replenished unless we complained—basic amenities that should be standard in any hotel. Beds were not changed until we raised the issue. We were told that housekeeping is not allowed to enter rooms when guests are not present, which meant nothing was done unless we were physically there and repeatedly asked. Bottled water was also not provided unless we complained again. Throughout the stay, I had to constantly call reception just to get basic services done. This is the first hotel I have ever stayed in where you have to ask for your room to be cleaned. The main problem appears to be housekeeping. The staff were mostly young boys who seemed uninterested, careless, and in some cases rude. Whether they are overworked or underpaid, it clearly reflects in their attitude and performance. When I questioned one staff member about the lack of cleaning, the response was dismissive and unprofessional. In addition, the hotel urgently needs to invest in better-quality linen, duvets, and pillows, as the ones provided were worn out and uncomfortable, which further affected the quality of our stay. Last year, we stayed at Mysk Touch, not far from this hotel, and the difference was night and day—excellent housekeeping, polite staff, and proper management. This hotel needs better training, improved staff manners, stricter supervision, and a manager who actively checks that housekeeping standards are being met. I’m really disappointed with my experience at this hotel. My brother forgot his key card, so I brought it with me while I was out. When he couldn’t reach me, he went to reception to ask for another key — but they refused to give him one. Instead, they just went up and opened the door for him. This felt humiliating — after paying nearly £100 per night, you’d expect a bit more consideration and basic service. On top of that, the room’s electricity only works when the key card is in the slot, which meant my brother had no power while waiting for me and had to rely on a portable charger. The water pressure in the bathroom was also extremely low, making it hard to take a proper shower. For the price we’re paying, this kind of lack of consideration and inconvenience is unacceptable. The cleaners and other staff were really nice and welcoming, which made me feel at ease. However, my experience at check-in was extremely frustrating. The receptionists and the people working at the till were absolutely terrible. When I arrived, they claimed I didn’t have a booking and made me wait around. Even after showing them my booking confirmation and payment, they insisted that someone had taken my key and that I was part of a group—though I had no group leader and wasn’t traveling with anyone. They couldn’t seem to make up their minds and kept giving me conflicting stories. The young lady at the till, who was wearing a hijab, was particularly unhelpful, insisting on things that weren’t true. After a while, I decided to contact my travel agency, and once they reached out to the hotel, the staff suddenly gave me the keys right away—without any real apology or explanation. The staff at the tills were rude, arrogant, and made the check-in process far more stressful than it needed to be. It was a shame because the rest of the hotel was great. In short, if you’re planning to stay here, just be prepared for a potentially frustrating check-in experience, but once you're past that, it’s a nice place with lovely staff elsewhere. Read less

The room itself was not well maintained and basic services were lacking. We had to ask multiple times for towels, and they were only provided two days later. Housekeeping also informed us that the hotel only had around 10 towels available for 40 rooms and just one iron for the same number of rooms, which explains the delays but is clearly not acceptable for guests. Mansour the manager is nowhere to b found and all the reception staff abdullah , amira ect continue to say that they will fix room after next prayer well: they brought a 4th bed in a triple room. But the room is too squashed. Why can't We get the Quad room we paid for. And the fact that they gave wrong room and it's already 2 nights of the 6 night. Seems like they not willing to fix. I recently stayed at Emaar Grand in Makkah and overall had a decent experience. The hotel is around a 10-minute walk to the Haram, depending on your pace and how busy it is. The walk is mostly flat, which makes it manageable even during peak times. There are plenty of grocery stores and food outlets surrounding the hotel, so finding essentials or a quick meal is very convenient. Taxis are also easily available nearby, which is especially helpful if you’re heading to Masjid Aisha. The hotel has a good number of lifts, but they can take a while due to the high volume of guests. The rooms are fairly basic, which is expected for a hotel of this standard, but they are comfortable enough for a short stay. The cleaning staff were generally very good and attentive. However, I did have to repeatedly request bathroom cleaning, which was a bit frustrating. I didn’t have much interaction with reception, so I can’t comment much on their service. They also offer a cleaning service for a fee, which takes a couple of hours. Overall, it’s a practical option if you’re looking for a reasonably located hotel close to the Haram with plenty of nearby amenities. Read less

Honestly had one of the worst experiences with staff at this hotel. We had 3 rooms and stayed there for a week. On my first day the receptionist Motaz Ahmed helped me in ensuring that all 3 of our rooms were on the same floor. After that all experiences with the staff were awful. 1. First the rooms handed over to us had no soup, no slippers, no iron, and no towels. Can you imagine walking into a room with all those basic things missing. We tried complaining but the phones didnt work. I had to go downstairs and they provided towels within a few hours and soup, the next day. Still no slippers and iron. 2. Next morning, the tables were sticky and dirty when we went for breakfast/sahour. The staff responsible for cleaning certainly werent doing their job properly. 3. After that when Ramadan started, I had to extend my rooms' stay and it was a nightmare. The people at the reception werent helpful neither was the reservation office. I had to go back and forth for 3 hours to finally get it sorted. Pathetic. 4. Lastly, when we were checking out and needed a bellman, no one showed up for 30mins. Eventually, I had to drag the trolley myself and get my bags downstairs for which they started asking me questions as to why I did it. It’s a nice hotel with good facilities and overall a pleasant atmosphere. But breakfast juices are crap. There were minor problems in bathroom but maintainace team sorted. However, one major issue I noticed is with the management. If you are not Arab, they tend to treat you differently — for example, asking you to sit in a separate seating area, even though we are all paying the same. This kind of behavior felt discriminatory and unfair. I hope the management improves in this regard, because apart from that, it could really be an excellent place for everyone. Read less

Assalamu Alaykum, Unfortunately, I did not enjoy my stay here. The two biggest issues for me were the food and the cleanliness of the room. The buffet looks endless but has no taste. Even the viennoiseries were disappointing. The elevator works well and is easily accessible, and I noticed that the hotel entrance—though a bit dark—is being cleaned regularly, which gave me some comfort. But the room itself was the biggest letdown. From the first moment I entered, it felt dirty. The carpet was not clean, the air was stuffy, and even the bottles of water had dust on them, showing they had been sitting there for a long time. The closet and chandelier were also dusty and not well maintained. To be fair, the bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious enough for three people. However, the lack of cleanliness overshadowed everything else. For me, this was very disappointing, and I would not want to stay here again. Read less

The room size is good and has everything you need, a hair dryer, towels and bidet. NEVER EVER STAY IN THIS HOTEL. The only hotel in the Emaar group worth staying is Emaar Andalusia. The rest are not trustworthy. I am inclined to give a one star review right at the time of check in. There are two towers of the hotel and only one deals with the online check in. In the reception there are four check in counters out of which two are unattended. The two functional counters are taking one hour per customer literally. There is a big cue but two counters are unattended and the two functioning are extremely extremely slow. Their computer software seems to be stuck. The deputy manager is relaxing on his computer and is rarely helping people. The hotel does not seem to have the physical availability of already booked hotel. The customers have to wait for very long in the check in lounge sometimes along with their children. Waiting time for an average customer is two hours. There were times when there was only one receptionist as the other one went out for fresh air for a very long time. Pathetic service. The hotel needs to be closed. Only one receptionist dealing with the long cue of customers and taking phone calls. No other person at the reception desk. The lifts are highly unsafe and dangerous. No sensors. Your hand can be squished if you squeeze in. The rooms are extremely small with no double beds. Not recommended to anyone. Read less

I recently stayed at the Emaar Grand Hotel in Mecca, booking a room advertised for five people. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing, and I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone, especially larger groups. The room itself was incredibly tight for five beds. We were practically on top of each other, and there was barely any space to move around or store our belongings comfortably. This lack of space made our stay very uncomfortable and frankly, quite stressful. Beyond the cramped quarters, the room service was also severely lacking. On multiple occasions, we tried to contact room service, but the phone simply went unanswered. This made it impossible to request basic necessities or address any issues we had. Considering the high price we paid for this hotel, the level of service and the size of the room were completely unacceptable. It felt like we were significantly overcharged for a very poor experience. If you are planning a trip to Mecca and require accommodation for more than a couple of people, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. The Emaar Grand Hotel's cramped rooms and unreliable service are not worth the money or the frustration. Save yourself the disappointment and book a different hotel. Read less

The hair dryer in the bathroom has such low power that it will take you an hour to dry your long hair with it. The bathroom plumbing was horrific, whenever you run water you can smell of the gutter. The room ventilation system seems like it hasn’t been cleaned in years and would definitely make you sick! The place just looks fancy from the interior used but has little to no facilities available. We have only been here for two days tonight being the third and i am just honestly so ready to go home, which is upsetting. 1) the rooms are decent sized, as far as i know. our room was for three people so there were three beds. Very standard. However, the windows are broken and you can hear EVERYTHING outside. 2) the toilet smells and is always 24/7 hot. It’s very tight and cramped. and once again like every other review we were only given two towels despite being three people. Normally hotels i’ve been to you get at least two towels per person the second one being a smaller towel??! 3) THE LIFTS. If you want clarity and a peace of mind please don’t even consider booking here! There are so many lifts but there are WAYY MORE people. You can wait for the lift for almost 1 HOUR 4) Lastly the distance. It’s not worth your money it’s a long walk and isn’t “5 minutes”! The location is about 7-8 mkns walks from the entrance of haram gate 79 . The hotel itself looks very presentable but rooms are very dated and need refurbishment. Frontbif house need better Customer service skills especially the lady at reception who when posed with a problem seems to uses gestures and arrogance as her way to deal with issues. The gentlemen and the service guys are very helpful and pleasant. Having stayed for a few days with several problems and then room changes this seemed to be common as many other guests had the same issue and same broken promises. For a hotel with ample rooms it seemed like they just couldn't be bothered. Broken telephones broken lights , lack of facilities and 1 iron to use amongst the hundreds of rooms and you won't get one for 3 days and even then you only can use for 1 hr, constant trips to reception but all broken false promises. The good things about the place is it is value for money and you could see that once upon a time it was 5 star but now pushing 3 stars. Alhamdulillah We arrived on the 24th July 2023 from Malaysia. The lady reception is really nice and polite. She makes the check in process really straight foward and fast for me and my father. May Allah ease her life. The breakfast is good. The hotel is around 10-12 minutes to Haram. Room is big and toilet is clean.Aircond is superb. Wifi also very fast. Im grateful to found this hotel even is not like the nearest or higher star to masjid.. Its still a good and clean room. Also theres a lot of shop/food along the way to hotel from masjid. So you wont be feel like walking far. InsyaAllah will come back. Read less

To be honest when I read the reviews of this hotel I had a different image in my head. But my stay proved the reviews wrong. It was a lovely hotel. House keeping were 5 ⭐️. Always helpful, gave everything i needed. Cleaned the room when I asked. Like I said housekeeping were just GREAT. The location of the hotel was in the BEST place. Everything in my convenience and the best thing was that it was just a 10min walk to haram shareef. I will give it 5/5 Read less

Terrible service and hotel management. Booked a 4 persons room, it was terrible as the beds were laid out in a very awkward position that left no other space in the hotel room, we barely had enough space to open our suitcases. The hotel management in general is poor, they don't clean the rooms properly. Everytime we ask for water bottles they either only give 2 or don't give any. We had a minor incident where we needed to check the CCTV footage for our floor, it took 3 days for us to finally get somewhere with this. Hotel manager is rude and walked off as we were speaking to him. The reception staff again is incompetent and does not seem to care about anything. The switches are really strange as the sockets are connected to the lights in the room, everytime u want to charge your phone etc u have to keep the light on which is really really strange. The only thing that was decent was the food. Breakfast and dinner items are always fresh and they change the dishes they make quite often . The tables are cleaned frequently and food gets replenished every time it finishes. Read less

Receptionist lady at the Restaurant upstairs on Thursday 23rd February 2023 during dinner time was so rude. She doesn’t have basic manners. I asked nicely if they can heat my kids food, instead of refusing nicely, she pointed me to the door in front of everyone. SO RUDE! Read less

Please don't waste your valuable money. Toilets are so dirty that we had to shift to another room but again no better! Overall, very very poor. Customer service was unacceptable. From the outside, lobby restaurant tower A was 4 star but the room was a little 3 star - no carpet and the bathroom was not as modern for 4 star rating. Good decent hotel. Stayed here with 4 kids in very busy December season. Their facilities are of 4-star Hotel. Room service was excellent guys were there every day offering to clean our room. Lifts are not too busy. The Guys in reception are not very helpful and can be better with their customer service attitude It's a 10-minute straight walk to harm. No uphill or downhill. So was comfortable for kids to walk. They have a separate floor for a restaurant which we didn't use. Floor for Parking and a floor for Prayer hall. Read less

This is a very good hotel compared to the other hotels in the vicinity. It’s located in Ibrahim Al Khalil street, about 1 Km walk from the Haram (about 15-20 minutes walk depending on your speed). I have booked a quad room. It was spacious, clean and doesn’t smell. It had street view, from the 8th floor, beds and linen were clean, bathroom was well maintained and clean. The room is spacious enough for the needs, there is a kettle and facility to make coffee, and there is a small fridge. Electronic card keys work fine with no issues. There is a small wardrobe / hanger for clothes. The single beds and mattresses are comfortable. I would give this room / hotel an overall rating of 8/10. The reception staff are friendly and helpful. Check in was almost seamless with no issues. It did take few minutes longer to check in more than necessary, but compared to other hotels in the region and previous experiences, it was really good.
