Tons of options and variety every single night with top notch service. Location is also great. Takes about 4 mins to walk to the haram (near the extension, I used to go to gate 66 which was very close). Just walk straight through Hilton convention hotel for the quickest route. But they even have a free shuttle service to get you to the haram which literally runs all day and night at every 5 minutes. Literally, every 5 minutes. Read less

The hotel location is perfect and very convenient, especially for getting around easily. That said, don’t expect a perfect Haram view it’s good to manage expectations there. The buffet staff were kind and helpful, and service was smooth. A couple of things worth noting for future guests: • Zain mobile network does not work well inside this hotel, so it’s not worth purchasing if you’re staying here. • If you’re hoping for early check-in, be aware that there is an extra fee. This is my second stay at the DoubleTree Makkah hotel….. First one was in October 2024 and it was a positive experience, my second stay was in August 2025, and it wasn’t the same as my first one DoubleTree is a new and comfortable hotel. The team is cooperative, kind, and welcoming, which is something that truly stands out compared to many other hotels in Makkah. However, there are a few important areas that require improvement: 1. Mattresses: The mattresses are extremely soft, which is quite unusual for a newly opened hotel. It raises the question — how did the mattresses lose their firmness so quickly? Unfortunately, this caused back pain during our stay. 2. Housekeeping & Cleanliness: We stayed for 6 nights, and during that time, the bed sheets and duvet covers were never changed. Housekeeping standards need to be raised significantly. Even basic cleaning such as vacuuming the floor was not done during our stay. 3. Breakfast: The breakfast is boring and repetitive, with almost no variation day to day. There’s no interesting food presentation or appealing options. The quality is quite basic, and no premium items are offered at all. It got to the point where my children decided not to eat breakfast, and my husband and I would skip it if we were tired, as it simply wasn’t worth waking up for. Despite these points, the hotel remains comfortable, and the price is reasonable compared to other hotels in Makkah. I highly recommend booking through a Saudi travel agency, as their prices are significantly better than what is available on hotel booking websites. 4. Panda Supermarket: A major convenience is that there is a Panda supermarket accessible directly from the hotel lobby. This was extremely useful, as we didn’t need to go out to other supermarkets near the Haram. You can easily do your shopping right from the hotel, which adds great value to the stay. 5. Hotel Towers: The hotel consists of two towers — Makkah Tower and Madinah Tower. Based on our experience, I would highly recommend choosing the Madinah Tower over the Makkah Tower. It was more for better view ⸻ Tips for Accessing the Haram: It is advisable to head to the Haram 45–60 minutes before prayer time. The hotel offers a shuttle bus that runs for about 3 minutes and drops you near the elevator of Souq Al-Khalil in the Jabal Omar area. From there, it’s a short walk to the Haram via Ibrahim Al-Khalil Street. Another and in my opinion better route is to enter the Hilton Convention Hotel, which is opposite DoubleTree. From the Hilton lobby, there is a direct elevator access to the Haram. This option is more convenient than the hotel’s bus service, especially since the mall elevators are often small and crowded Read less

We promised to make up for our terrible experience by booking in a prestigious high profile hotel, our choice was Hilton Double Tree Jabal Omar. Location: Was great all in all compared to other hotels, it’s approximately 500 meters away from the haram. Rooms: Our room was pretty pristine and clean, so dirt was to be found, the beds and sheets were spotless. The view from the windows was mesmerizing. Service: Service was great, no complaints at all. The staff are very attentive to the needs of the guests. Restaurant: Food was palatable and good, but nothing special. It does lack variety, it could use more protein. The negative thing here is that there's a constant stench from the drainage holes in the bathrooms, it's very disgusting. It's a short walk to the Haram and the hotel pro ides a bus shuttle to convey the elderly as well. The shuttle isn't reliable however and clients have to join the shuttle for the nearby Marriot and Hilton hotels. It would be good if the management can work harder on the housekeeping service and the rooms aren't exceptionally cleaned by the staff. Constant noise from the hallway and neighboring rooms was clearly audible throughout the night, including doors slamming, conversations, and general movement. This made proper rest impossible and reflects inadequate room design and acoustic standards. In addition, several essential room features were either malfunctioning or not functioning reliably. Certain fixtures showed signs of neglect and insufficient maintenance, and the overall condition of the room did not reflect a properly maintained environment. Basic expectations such as consistent cleanliness and proper technical functionality were not met. Another major issue was the lack of efficiency and responsiveness from the hotel staff. Requests were handled slowly, and there was no clear sense of responsibility or urgency. The level of attentiveness and professionalism was not consistent with what should be expected from an international hotel of this level. The general condition of the facilities also appeared outdated and insufficiently maintained. The overall environment did not convey the quality, care, or attention to detail associated with a five-star hotel standard. Additionally, the breakfast and dining experience did not meet expectations. The selection was limited, and the overall quality did not reflect the level typically associated with hotels of this classification. Overall, the experience did not align with the advertised standard of the property. This message concerns a deeply disappointing and unacceptable experience at the Crowne Plaza Medina. From the moment of arrival, it became clear that the hotel was not operating at a professional standard. Despite holding a confirmed reservation, we were left standing at the reception area for approximately four hours while staff were unable to provide a proper check-in. There was no clear communication, no efficient handling of the situation, and no sense of urgency. Such a failure in basic guest management is entirely inconsistent with a hotel of this category. The situation worsened upon entering the room. The overall condition reflected poor maintenance and insufficient cleaning. Several elements within the room were visibly damaged or degraded. Furniture showed extensive wear and structural issues. Wooden components appeared compromised, with visible deterioration consistent with prolonged neglect. The floor was not properly cleaned. The bedding, including sheets and covers, did not appear hygienic and raised serious concerns regarding housekeeping standards. The bed itself was uncomfortable and did not provide an acceptable level of rest. Equally concerning was the lack of professionalism from the staff. Requests for assistance were not handled appropriately, and there was no meaningful attempt to improve the situation or acknowledge the severity of the problems. The overall impression was a lack of accountability and inadequate operational control. The dining experience was also below standard. The food quality did not meet reasonable expectations for an international hotel operating under a five-star label. The discrepancy between the advertised classification and the actual condition of the hotel is significant. My recent stay at the Crowne Plaza Madinah by IHG was absolutely wonderful! From the moment I checked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Great hospitable service from Zahir Faraz at the breakfast area ,Rima and benzair in reception desk , Mr Hussain and all member of staff we met . The room was impeccably clean, spacious, and had all the amenities I needed. The location was also perfect, within easy walking distance of prophet’s Mosque. For women's walk for haram , the hotel provides good shuttle service for women's. For the mens this hotel location is perfect. The food was very delicious. I stayed at the Crowne Plaza Madinah thinking it would be closer to the Haram based on the photos, but in reality, it’s located in the third block—not as near as it looks online. The breakfast was nothing special, quite average, but the staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, which I appreciated. The main issue was the room. Everything felt outdated—from the mattresses to the bed size, the old-school wired telephones, and especially the bathroom. The bathroom was the worst part for me. The showerhead was full of limescale, and the rest of the bathroom showed clear signs of water damage and leakage. The worst moment was during wudhu when the sink literally broke. Judging by the condition, it had clearly been damaged before. What really annoyed me was the maintenance guy accusing me of breaking it. They didn’t move me to another room or offer any solution—they just patched it up with some filler and never mentioned it again. On a positive note, the laundry service for my thobe was excellent—great quality and very fairly priced. Overall, the hotel has potential, but it seriously needs renovation and better communication with guests when issues arise. Read less

Mr Ahmed Asehri ( appologies if spelling is wrong) called me straight away and litreally within an hour or two after the call he sorted out the rooms. Gave me better rooms which are really good and value for money and room service is very good as well. Rooms are very good Alhumdolillah. It really feels very comfortable. The hotel entrance is beautiful, and parking is available for an additional fee. My compliment is about the elevators. There are six elevators in total. Despite the fact that the hotel was fully booked during our Ramadan visit, we only had to wait a few seconds for the elevator. However, the room was extremely small, the window had a small gap that allowed noise to enter, the bathroom design was a disaster, and the sink lacked a pop-up stopper. The bathroom had a nice magnifying makeup mirror with lights, but I couldn't use it because it was broken and the liquid soap holder was in the way, so I couldn't move the mirror. The bathroom layout is not suitable for a couple. The toilet is behind the door, and if someone is on the toilet and the door opens, the person's face will be hit. My final complain is about the room card. I stayed for four nights and had to reactivate the card every day. The location is great for men, but the women praying area is very far from the hotel. I do not recommend this hotel at all, it has nothing of the criteria of a 5 star hotel, more of a very mediocre 3 star hotel. The room was extremely small, it smelt musty barely even enough space to pray in, no day light the window was facing a wall. The carpet was damaged and dirty. The bathroom was even smaller, and there was no strainer on the drain, broken shower head not to mention the horrible smell of humidity. The AC made unbearable loud sounds and you couldn’t change the temperature so the room was very cold. Most of the staff was very rude and unprofessional and they wouldn’t clean your room even after asking multiple times. After many complains they “upgraded” us. The room was basically the same with the exact same problems. The reception said they couldn’t do anything about it and it’s the best they had. The food was mediocre and I noticed that the fruits weren’t even washed properly. And it’s pretty faraway from women’s masjid. This is as total scam for the expensive price we payed. Read less

All rooms were not close to the standard you expect for 5 stars establishment. Room service took ages. Room amenities were extremely poor. Beds were uncomfortable. TVs are old style and do not have the facility to mirror. Cleaning staff was good but that did not improve the overall experience specially when you have stayed in ihg properties elsewhere. Avoid this hotel at all costs! We were at this hotel during the first few nights of Ramadan 2022. We asked for the room to be cleaned on on the second day but that never happened. We ran out of toilet paper and when we asked for more it was never forthcoming. The people at their reception also gave another guest a key to our room so we were awoken one night by a stranger entering our room. My wife never felt safe in the hotel after that. When I complained about this and a lack of room service they just gave us complementary tea and fruit, like that made up for it! On the last day I asked the reception to provide me the email address for the manager so that I could email him about our horrendous experience at the hotel. The receptionist refused to give me his email address and handed me a random business card, telling me to write my message on the back of the card! This is was the worst experience I've had at a hotel anywhere in the world. The interior of the hotel is dated and the staff have an overly relaxed attitude to customer service. This is meant to be a 5* hotel! Read less
